Scott Abercrombie brings significant experience to bear in managing the commercial, mortgage and consumer banking operation for Griffin Financial Group LLC. He provides consultative, structured finance, securitization and loan trading services in performing, scratch and dent, non-performing, REO for commercial loans, residential first and second mortgages, auto and other consumer loans. He has traded over $1.5 billion in loans and evaluated more than $1.5 billion in commercial and residential loan pools for Griffin clients. Scott is the former Executive Vice President of Sovereign Finance Company and Alternative Deliveries for Sovereign Bank, the nation’s second largest thrift institution with $82 billion in assets. While with Sovereign, he established Sovereign Finance Company, a national home equity and mortgage loan purchase business, and managed all aspects of Sovereign Finance Company, retail e-commerce, call centers and Sovereign Insurance Agency. He directed a team of 550 and held responsibility for nationwide generation of wholesale home equity, non-prime mortgages, auto, student loans, internet and insurance sales. At that time, Sovereign Finance originated over $3 billion in consumer loans and purchased $2 billion in mortgages with a total portfolio of $7 billion. Prior to his 14 years at Sovereign Bank, Scott worked for Citibank, JPMorgan Chase of New Jersey and Berkeley Federal Savings Bank in executive positions in consumer and mortgage lending. He entered the banking industry in 1974. He holds an MBA in Finance from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester, a top 25 business school and attended SUNY Brockport, receiving a B.S. in mathematics.
