Tom Whalen provides investment banking services, including the placement of senior debt, mezzanine and private equity financing for middle market companies. This includes companies in special situations, companies in transition and companies facing immediate financial difficulties. Tom has also assisted these companies by providing sell-side merger and acquisition advisory services. Tom’s background as a bankruptcy lawyer provides clients with important insights into the interplay of bankruptcy law and commercial finance. He has represented several parties in the purchase and sale of assets pursuant to Section 363 of the Bankruptcy Code in numerous regional and national cases. Tom has advised financial institutions, debtor-in-possession lenders, ad hoc bond/noteholder committees and secured creditors in a broad range of issues inside and outside of the bankruptcy court venue. He has also served as an advisor to financial institutions in numerous commercial loan, loan workout and restructuring transactions. Tom has represented creditors’ committees and members of creditors’ committees in a wide range of issues including the disposition of debtors’ assets. He advises post-confirmation trusts and plan administrators in various matters necessary to complete the reorganization process. He is experienced in advising many companies facing financial challenges or within the auspices of Chapter 11. Tom has assisted Chapter 11 debtors in their reorganization efforts. He received a B.A.
and a J.D. from Temple University. He is a member of the American
Bankruptcy Institute. |
