Griffin Technology Partners provides early stage innovation capital and related management consulting for emerging technologies. We focus primarily on life science and health care products and applications being developed in the Mid-Atlantic region. Our target investments are early stage companies with products such as medical devices, re-purposed therapeutics, diagnostics, health care products and other products and tools for life sciences companies or health care providers.

Griffin Technology Partners uses a unique investment model centered on the capital efficient development of a marketable product. As with many investors, we start by identifying a promising early stage technology. However, instead of investing in an existing company or creating a brick-and-mortar business, which requires relatively high infrastructure expenditures for facilities, personnel, manufacturing, marketing and sales, we establish a virtual company in which the technology will be developed. When the technology is ready for market, our goal is to sell or license it to an existing large-scale manufacturer with established distribution channels to bring it to market.

Ownership of the virtual company is shared by the founders or creators of the technology, Griffin Technology Partners and our assembled investor group. The company is managed by the founders and Griffin as an outsourced development project with qualified contractors that we help identify, allowing the founders to focus on key development issues for the technology and next generation R&D.

Our main investment criteria include:

• Good IP position (preferably patented)
• Readily identifiable market niche and need
• A product able to go to market in 1-3 years
• An anticipated development budget of under $2 million
• Demonstrated interest from market leaders
